    AKIHIKO SHIRAI, Ph.D (Engineering) worked for Canon, Inc. and Criterion as a game development consultant until 2001. He received his Ph.D from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan in 2004 with research concerning the “Tangible Playroom”, entertainment system for young children using haptics, floor screen and real-time physics engine. He was a researcher at NHK-ES in Japan, ENSAM Presence & Innovation Laboratory in France. He worked for National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), Tokyo Japan, as a science communicator. From 2010, he worked in Kanagawa Institute of Technology as an associate professor. Simultaneous multiplex imagery system "Scritter", "ExPixel" and "ExField", "Manga Generator", nursery VR entertainment "Real Baby - Real Family" are awarded by ministry, academia, and game insdustry. Since 2018, He backed to game industry again as director of GREE VR Studio Lab in WFLE (Wright Flyer Live Entertainment, subsider of GREE, Inc.), which promotes new industrial research for vTuber driven VR live entertainment.

    Beth is a self-taught, award-winning Lighting, Projection, Set, and Costume designer who started working in rock and roll at 14. She is the creative director of Playground Studios, whose interactive installations include), Night Light Travels (NuitBlanche Toronto); and The ToyBox. Over the last 30 years, her theatre lighting, set, and groundbreaking video designs have been seen around the world, and on almost every stage in Canada. She is currently completing her Masters degree at the University of Calgary in Drama, and is a member of Dr. Christian Jacob’s ESD Lab in Computer Science. Her research focuses on performance and performance creation at the intersection with the emerging digital technologies of Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR). This research resulted in Bury The Wren, a VR / AR / Live performance. Beth has many works in development, including co-creating a new play - Airborne: The Life and Legacy of Lorna Bray commissioned by The Blyth Festival, and The Scott Jones Project (Artistic Fraud). She is a proud member of the Associated Designers of Canada. A recipient of a prestigious $250,000 Canada Council for the Arts Digital Strategy Fund grant, with which Beth has led the formation of Digital Alchemy Creation Lab, whose focus is on increasing creative digital literacy among theatre-makers. She is the chair of the Mixed Reality Performance Lab, a member of the multinational MMR Working Group, and is the Itomo (the one who walks in front) of Multiple Realities for World Stage Design 2021. Beth is also the proud recipient of a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) grant funding her graduate research projects.     Robert is the Executive Director and Founder of IVRHA (International Virtual Reality and Healthcare Association). In 2009, Robert started Cool Blue Media by organizing the first social media conference on the east coast of the United States, leading to the publication of the text book, "The Big Book of Social Media Case Studies, Stories and Perspectives" and shortly thereafter the only printed magazine covering social media, The Social Media Monthly. In May 2016, he launched VRVoice.co, a content vertical exploring virtual reality in the enterprise. In 2017, Robert started the largest annual conference on virtual reality and healthcare with events taking place both in the US and Europe. Prior to 2009, Robert was the Senior Director of Global Strategy and Development of IT at Conservation International (CI).     Dr. Lars Riedemann is a physician-technologist trained in neurology and biomedical engineering. He is also a self-trained full-stack programmer and a consultant working at the intersection of healthcare and immersive technologies. Lars received his medical degree with summa cum laude from the University of Muenster, Germany. As a postdoctoral fellow, supported by the German Cancer Aid (Deutsche Krebshilfe), he conducted his research at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) at Harvard Medical School (HMS) in close collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Growing up in poverty, Mat couldn’t afford college. So, he helped start a website development company in 1994. At 25, Mat took part in the $63 million USWeb IPO. By 35, he was a successful software startup executive and by 45 Mat was named a top 20 VR executive. Mat eventually attended college when he could afford it and completed studies in counterintelligence from American Military University, marketing from Rutgers Business School and studied mergers and acquisitions at Harvard Business School, in addition to holding multiple business process certificates. Mat now teaches online education for free using his VR platform, rumii, which won the global award for most innovative enterprise application at the annual VR/AR/XR executive conference produced by Greenlight Insights, which tracks global leaders in virtual and augmented reality. He has previously worked on virtual reality runtimes and technology at Sensics, and on virtual reality software frameworks, virtual assembly for engineering, natural interaction techniques, and haptic force-feedback at the Virtual Reality Applications Center at Iowa State University.
