Laval Virtual and Recto VRso: Cancellation of the 2020 physical editions

9th march 2020

We are sad to announce that the 22nd edition of the Laval Virtual Exhibition and 3rd edition of the Recto VRso Festival, that were supposed to take place from 22nd to 26th April 2020 in Laval (France) are cancelled.

This difficult decision has been taken after consulting the different actors of the exhibition and the festival. Decision that has been reinforced following yesterday’s French government announcement to forbid events over 1000 people.

Indeed, regarding the legitimate concerns caused by the pandemic of Covid-19 and despite all the sanitary measures taken by the organization, the current conditions won’t enable these events to be held in the best conditions to welcome the VR/AR professionals and the 20 000 visitors expected.

Alternative solutions to help the VR/AR Community
Within its 21 years of existence, Laval Virtual’s organization has always worked in order to animate the VR/AR and Immersive Technologies suppliers and users communities. This is why over the next few days we will present alternative solutions that will enable those who want to better understand, master the Immersive Technologies, to still be part of the event virtually.

« Taking this decision is heartbreaking, for all of those who, within the team and externals, have given a lot of their time and energy to make this 22nd edition exceptional. We are fully aware of the financial issues of this cancellation, they are significant for us and they are significant for all of those that we work with : our exhibitors, our sponsors, our partners and our providers ».
Laurent Chrétien, CEO Laval Virtual

We would like to thank our exhibitors, partners, speakers and visitors for their understanding, the territorial institutions and our sponsors for their renewed support during this difficult time.

« We are going to prepare a 23rd edition in 2021 that will overshadow the fact that 2020 didn’t take place as it will be so amazing! »
Laurent Chrétien, CEO Laval Virtual
